Volleyball Recap: Savannah Arts Academy Comes Up Short

Savannah Arts Academy entered their matchup against The Habersham School on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Panthers fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Savannah Arts Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Their offense was headlined by Ellie Ayala and Samantha Lehto, who picked up five kills apiece. Ayala also shared the team's lead in assists with Audrey Heyel: they picked up five each. Ayala also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Maddie Balthrop, racking up three apiece.

Among those leading the charge was Betsy Kelly, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September of 2024.

Savannah Arts Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for The Habersham School, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Coming up, Savannah Arts Academy will take on Winter Haven in a tournament on the 29th. As for The Habersham School, they will be playing at home against Trinity Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
