It's playoff time, and Independence had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Amanda Elzy Panthers get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dallas Stepp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine games.

In other batting news, Kaleb Kitchen was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Gavin Pierce was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Independence hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

Independence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Amanda Elzy, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Amanda Elzy, they will venture away from home to take on West Bolivar at 4:00 p.m. on the 26th.
