Basketball Game Preview: Newman Catholic Knights vs. West Bend-Mallard Wolverines

The Newman Catholic Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Newman Catholic didn't have too much trouble with Nashua-Plainfield as they won 57-40. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, West Bend-Mallard hadn't done well against West Hancock recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. West Bend-Mallard came out on top against West Hancock by a score of 61-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

West Bend-Mallard's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Newman Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.

Newman Catholic came up short against West Bend-Mallard in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 64-60. Can Newman Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
