Basketball Game Preview: Talawanda Brave vs. Preble Shawnee Arrows

The Talawanda Brave will venture away from home to face off against the Preble Shawnee Arrows at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Talawanda has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 10.

Talawanda is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bellbrook on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Brave took a blow against the Golden Eagles, falling 70-32. While losing is never fun, the Brave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 723rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 185th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brayden Douglas, who posted five points and seven boards. Miles Sutter was another key player, putting up two points.

Meanwhile, Preble Shawnee entered their game against Carlisle on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Arrows fell 59-54 to the Indians. While the Arrows didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 13-6 in the first quarter.

Preble Shawnee suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 15-3. As for Talawanda, their record is now 2-17.

Talawanda lost to Preble Shawnee on the road by a decisive 64-46 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can the Brave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
