Basketball Recap: New York Mills' Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

New York Mills can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 69-67 victory from a begrudging Eagles squad. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Sebeka still got an impressive performance from Max Lake, who went 11 for 17 on his way to 28 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Lake's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyatta Bell, who went 6 of 7 en route to 12 points and three steals.

New York Mills' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Sebeka, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

The future could be bright for both New York Mills and Sebeka: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. New York Mills will try to hand Menahga their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Meanwhile, Sebeka will try to hand Ogilvie their seventh-straight defeat when the two meet at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
