Volleyball Recap: Columbian Takes a Loss

If Columbian was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Shelby on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tornadoes fell just short of the Huron Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Tornadoes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-20 in the first set.

While Columbian ultimately came up short, they really made Huron work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11.

Defeat or not, Columbian got some senior leadership from Emma Daugherty and Erica Raubenolt. Daugherty had 29 digs and three aces, while Raubenolt had 17 digs. Those 17 digs set a new season-high mark for Raubenolt. Another player making a difference was Josie Kancler, who had ten digs and two assists.

Columbian's loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Columbian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Upper Sandusky on the 23rd. As for Huron, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on the 23rd.
