Volleyball Recap: Columbian Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Erica Raubenolt and Emma Daugherty

After flying high against Shelby on Tuesday, Columbian came back down to earth. The Tornadoes fell just short of the Huron Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Tornadoes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-20 in the first set.

Columbian was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Huron work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Columbian had strong showings from Emma Daugherty, who had 29 digs and three aces, and Erica Raubenolt, who had 17 digs. Daugherty is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Josie Kancler was another key player, getting ten digs and two assists.

Columbian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbian will head out to square off against Upper Sandusky at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Huron, they will venture away from home to face off against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
