Softball Game Preview: De Pere Redbirds vs. Denmark Vikings

The De Pere Redbirds will take on the Denmark Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as De Pere comes in on four and Denmark on three.

De Pere's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Menasha.

Not much got past Reese Falish, who gave up just four hits to keep Menasha off the board. Falish has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marren Vanremortel, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Julianne Bradford, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

De Pere hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Denmark won against Marinette on Friday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Vikings beat the Marines by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1.

Denmark's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for De Pere, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.
