Baseball Recap: Federal Hocking Drops Highest Score of Season Against Nelsonville-York

Federal Hocking extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 33 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes, falling 19-6. On the bright side, the six- run effort marked the Lancers' highest-scoring game to date.

As for Nelsonville-York, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-9. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

For Nelsonville-York's part, Zach Richardson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Richardson a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Nelsonville-York: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Dallas Snider was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Rexford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Federal Hocking will take on Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tornadoes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Lancers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nelsonville-York, they will square off against Miller at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
