Baseball Game Preview: Ionia Bulldogs vs. Lakewood Vikings

Ionia is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Saturday. They will host the Lakewood Vikings at 12:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Ionia fell victim to St. Patrick and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shamrocks. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ionia got a good showing from Gaven Elvert, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Lakewood kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against Harper Creek, falling 10-0.

Ionia now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Ionia skirted past Lakewood 2-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will Ionia repeat their success, or does Lakewood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
