Baseball Recap: KIPP NYC College Prep Bulldogs vs. Lehman Lions
KIPP NYC College Prep extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They came up short against the Lehman Lions, falling 12-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Saturday.
As for Lehman, they pushed their record up to 17-1-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games.
For Lehman's part, Leonardo Tatis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Tatis a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kevin Garcia was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Carlos Santana also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
