Basketball Recap: Ian Ibanez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Durant over Lakeland

Durant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeland Dreadnaughts.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ian Ibanez, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel Muniz, who posted 13 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Durant was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Durant's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Lakeland, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Durant and Lake Howell will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Lake Howell will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Durant surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakeland, they will head out on the road to face off against Stranahan at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
