Baseball Recap: Alden-Hebron Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Alden-Hebron's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Faith Christian Eagles 23-9. The result was nothing new for the Green Giants, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Aldo Carreno and Christian Nunez made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Carreno tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Nunez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Carreno scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Nunez scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Alden-Hebron let Jack Stewart and Wyatt Armbrust run wild. Stewart scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Armbrust scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-5. Armbrust is becoming a predictor of Alden-Hebron's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't). John Misiek was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

Alden-Hebron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Alden-Hebron's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Faith Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alden-Hebron will square off against South Beloit at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Green Giants' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sobos have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Faith Christian, they will challenge Williams Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
