Baseball Recap: Washington's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Washington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Forest Park Rangers 8-7. The victory was nothing new for the Hatchets as they're now sitting on three straight.

Trey James was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Washington is 4-1 when James posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Merold, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Washington pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Forest Park, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will square off against Heritage Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Forest Park, they will challenge North Daviess at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
