Volleyball Recap: Allexa Valencia Key Part of Team Effort in Crusaders Win

Village Christian not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 18th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on the Whittier Christian Heralds with a sharp 3-0 win. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Heralds, too.

Village Christian not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Whittier Christian between 13 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-14, 25-16.

Village Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allexa Valencia, who had 22 assists and six digs. That's the most assists Valencia has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Aragon, who had nine digs and two aces.

Village Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They are a perfect 6-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Village Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Whittier Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14-1 record this season.

Village Christian will face off against Oakwood at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Whittier Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Valley Christian at 6:15 p.m. on October 2.
