Softball Game Preview: Crothersville Tigers vs. South Decatur Cougars

The Crothersville Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the South Decatur Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Crothersville has given up an average of 14.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Crothersville is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Austin, falling 18-7.

Crothersville got a massive performance out of Alexis Caudill, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Rowan Sharp was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, South Decatur was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 17-2 to Morristown. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

South Decatur saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lydia Witkemper, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

South Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Crothersville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Crothersville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Decatur struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Crothersville might still be hurting after the 19-4 defeat they got from South Decatur in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
