Recap: Decatur Eisenhower Panthers vs. Springfield Senators

The Decatur Eisenhower Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Springfield on the road and fell 66-36. Decatur Eisenhower was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-10.

When it comes to explaining why Decatur Eisenhower lost, one person who can't be blamed is Oniya Reed. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reed has scored all season.

Decatur Eisenhower bumped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for Springfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Decatur Eisenhower will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on MacArthur at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springfield, they will square off against Springfield Southeast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Springfield Southeast will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Springfield is ranked 129th).
