Volleyball Recap: Melrose's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Melrose entered their tilt with Lake Arthur on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Panthers 3-0. The Buffaloes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Melrose was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-14, 25-11.

Melrose's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cassie Hawkins, who had five aces and three digs. Those five aces gave Hawkins a new career-high. Zona Hollaway was another key player, getting four digs and four aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Melrose was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Melrose's record now sits at 10-2. As for Lake Arthur, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-3.

Melrose didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Elida on the 9th. As for Lake Arthur, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Dora on the 8th.
