Volleyball Recap: Eliana Lanners' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Schaeffer Academy over Southland

Schaeffer Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Southland Rebels, falling 3-0. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rebels from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-18, 25-5.

Schaeffer Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Eliana Lanners, who had nine assists and six digs. Lily Morrisey was another key player, getting six digs and one block.

Schaeffer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southland, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Schaeffer Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Spring Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Southland will square off against rival LeRoy-Ostrander at 7:00 p.m. on September 2.
