Baseball Recap: L.E.A.D. Academy Triumphs

While L.E.A.D. Academy's victory against Gulf Pointe Latin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions won by a run and slipped past the Gladiators 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Gladiators: they've now won seven in a row.

Bowen Miller made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Jaxon Greenier was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Wyatt Showmaker was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

L.E.A.D. Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6.

Coming up, L.E.A.D. Academy will face off against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Central Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
