Softball Recap: American Canyon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Heritage last Saturday, American Canyon came back down to earth. The Wolves came up short against the Vanden Vikings on Monday, falling 11-4. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Deja Montgomery made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Ianna Labao also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

American Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1. As for Vanden, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Coming up, American Canyon will square off against Justin-Siena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Vanden, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
