Baseball Recap: Charlotte Latin's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 12

Charlotte Latin barely beat East Mecklenburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 13-7 win on Monday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Graham Blanton looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Booker, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jaden Hawa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Charlotte Latin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Mecklenburg struck out nine times.

The victory (which was Charlotte Latin's 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Mecklenburg, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-11.

Looking ahead, Charlotte Latin will face off against Mallard Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks are facing the Mavericks at the right time seeing as the Mavericks are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for East Mecklenburg, they will be taking part in a tournament against Covenant Day at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
