Softball Recap: Cordova Takes a Loss

Cordova was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 9-2 to the Winfield Pirates. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

Cordova saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Vance, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Even though they lost, Cordova hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in eight consecutive matchups.

Cordova's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Winfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cordova will square off against Good Hope at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Good Hope will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Winfield, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Hamilton at 4:30 p.m.
