Basketball Recap: Addyson Suggs Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bay

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Enterprise, Chipley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Bay Tornadoes out 47-44. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Tornadoes are ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chipley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addyson Suggs led the charge by putting up 12 points and seven rebounds. Sadayah Hogan was another key player, posting 12 points along with five assists and five boards.

Chipley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Bay lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nevaeh Childs, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiyana Hunt, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Chipley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Bay, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-8.

Chipley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 44-43 win against Marianna on the 10th. As for Bay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-31 defeat against Choctawhatchee on the 10th.
