Softball Recap: Dobie Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

It's playoff time, and Dobie had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Ridge Point Panthers on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Longhorns also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Vanessa De La Fuente spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dobie let Persephone Soria and Leslie Sarduy run wild. Soria got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Sarduy went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Soria has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Martinez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.

Dobie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridge Point only posted an OBP of .276.

Dobie's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ridge Point, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.

Dobie will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
