Basketball Recap: Atkinson County Rebels vs. Clinch County Panthers
After a string of six wins, the Atkinson County Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Clinch County by a score of 58-55. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Atkinson County in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Atkinson County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Savanna Williams. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 11 points.
Atkinson County's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7. As for Clinch County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Atkinson County and the Indians will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Charlton County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Clinch County, they will be playing at home against the Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Turner County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Panthers are ranked 128th).
