Basketball Game Preview: Triplains/Brewster Titans vs. Bethune Bobcats

The Triplains/Brewster Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Bethune Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Triplains/Brewster is looking for their season's first victory.

Triplains/Brewster is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Rawlins County on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Triplains/Brewster was beaten by Rawlins County 88-17. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 35th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bethune, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Miami-Yoder by a score of 40-30 on Saturday. The Bobcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Triplains/Brewster better keep an eye on Jamie Strobel. She was instrumental in Bethune's win, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Strobel is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Powell, who posted six points along with six assists and four steals.

Bethune was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Triplains/Brewster's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Bethune, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Triplains/Brewster and Bethune were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, but Triplains/Brewster came up empty-handed after a 25-24 loss. Can Triplains/Brewster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
