Baseball Recap: Marathon Extends Winning Streak to Three

Marathon entered their tilt with Ransom Everglades on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Raiders. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 4-1 victory back in March.

Marathon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Leal, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-2. Leal also scored two runs, which is notable because the Dolphins are undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Gabriel Leal was another, going 2-for-3 with one double.

Marathon's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Ransom Everglades, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season.

Marathon and Ransom Everglades are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Dolphins will be playing at home against Glades Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gators will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Marathon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ransom Everglades, they will square off against Riviera Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.08 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
