Baseball Game Preview: Aurora Greenmen vs. Riverside Beavers

The Aurora Greenmen will face off against the Riverside Beavers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Aurora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Aurora took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Cuyahoga Falls. The Greenmen haven't had any issues with the Black Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Maddox Booth looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Aydan Carlson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Brennan Scope, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Aurora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Riverside suffered their closest loss since April 26, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of St. Edward by a score of 8-6.

Lelynd Chapman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mo Dolce, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Aurora, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3.

Aurora took their win against Riverside in their previous matchup back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 11-2 score. Will the Greenmen repeat their success, or do the Beavers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
