Basketball Recap: Calera Comes Up Short

After flying high against Colbert on Thursday, Calera came back down to earth. The Calera Bulldogs lost 53-32 to the Madill Wildcats on Friday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Madill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elexis Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Holmes' evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. E'Niyah Holmes was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 15 points.

Calera's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Madill, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calera will square off against Oktaha at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Madill, they will face off against Riverside Indian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
