Football Recap: Kennesaw Mountain Skates Past Johns Creek with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sprayberry, Kennesaw Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-0 victory over the Johns Creek Gladiators. The Mustangs pushed the score to 49-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gladiators had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennesaw Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamarri Robertson, who rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Hollis Williams also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kennesaw Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Another reason for the win was Kennesaw Mountain's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Trevor Williams Jr and Kamari Butler, who racked up six sacks between them. Butler is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least nine every time he's taken the field this season.

Kennesaw Mountain's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Johns Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennesaw Mountain will welcome New Manchester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Johns Creek, they will host Prince Avenue Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
