Football Game Preview: Middletown North Lions vs. Central Regional Golden Eagles + How To Watch

The Middletown North Lions will square off against the Central Regional Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Middletown North has given up an average of 27.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Middletown North ended up a good deal behind Rumson-Fair Haven and lost 48-29. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Matthew Belenko, who rushed for 112 yards and one score. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Viola, who picked up 89 receiving yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Central Regional never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Brick Township with a sharp 21-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Central Regional and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 points in those games. As for Middletown North, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Middletown North was able to grind out a solid win over Central Regional when the teams last played back in September of 2022, winning 21-14. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
