Baseball Recap: Northshore's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northshore). They put the hurt on the Acadiana Rams with a sharp 15-5 victory on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Jacob Neely looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Northshore got a massive performance out of Eli Long, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those runs were Long's first of the season. Another player making a difference was David Cantrelle, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Northshore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Northshore pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Acadiana, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northshore will face off against Northlake Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Acadiana, they will take on Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
