Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Bulldogs vs. New Diana Eagles

Jefferson hasn't had much luck against New Diana recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jefferson Bulldogs will take on the New Diana Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Tuesday, Jefferson beat Harmony 9-5. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly four runs.

Maddie Clark made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Clark was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Cooner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Tenazia Alexander, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, New Diana waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 6-0 shutout.

New Diana's record is now 11-6-1. As for Jefferson, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Jefferson might still be hurting after the 16-5 loss they got from New Diana when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Jefferson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
