The Americas Trail Blazers are taking a road trip to square off against the Parkland Matadors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Americas is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
On Saturday, Americas made easy work of Horizon and carried off a 17-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Trail Blazers, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Sarah Aguilar looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Americas got a massive performance out of Isabelle Garcia, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miranda Heredia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
Americas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Parkland didn't have quite enough to beat El Dorado on Saturday and fell 4-2. The Matadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Stephanie Flores was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Americas' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-13. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Parkland, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-14.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Americas hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Parkland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Americas' way against Parkland in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Americas made off with a 12-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trail Blazers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
