Softball Recap: Oakdale's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 12

Oakdale put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat the Greenback Cherokees by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 last Monday.

Landry Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Smith, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Sirmans, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Oakdale's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Greenback, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Oakdale will welcome Rockwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.42 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenback, they have already played their next match, a 17-16 victory against Harriman on the 14th.
