Basketball Game Preview: Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm vs. Ramsey Rams

The Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm will venture away from home to challenge the Ramsey Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Last Monday, Sangamon Valley/Tri-City had to suffer through a 74-32 loss at the hands of Nokomis. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 636th, while the Redskins are ranked 159th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ramsey, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 42-29 win over Martinsville on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Bluestreaks: they've now won three in a row.

Ramsey's win came from a few key players Sangamon Valley/Tri-City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kelsey Hayes, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot, having posted 12 or more boards the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenni Mezo, who posted eight points and five steals.

Ramsey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Ramsey's record now sits at 6-14. As for Sangamon Valley/Tri-City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.
