Baseball Recap: Sumrall Triumphs

Sumrall had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Purvis Tornadoes by a score of 6-3 on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Tornadoes on Saturday, they had to take a 7-4 defeat.

Cooper McCoy looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Drew Davis was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Tucker Barrett, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Sumrall's record now sits at 27-5. As for Purvis, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sumrall beat the Tornadoes by a score of 12-1 on Tuesday.
