Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Pope John Paul II Jaguars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Lake Charles College Prep on Friday, falling 34-7. Pope John Paul II's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Charles College Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylen Rubin, who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Carter, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Pope John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Lake Charles College Prep, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Pope John Paul II does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lake Charles College Prep is on the road again on Friday and play against Catholic - N.I. Catholic - N.I. is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
