Knight has gone a perfect 10-0 against Antelope Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Knight Hawks will challenge the Antelope Valley Antelopes at 3:15 p.m. Antelope Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Knight, who comes in off a win.
Knight had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Desert Christian on Tuesday. Everything went Knight's way against Desert Christian as Knight made off with an 11-1 victory. The Hawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Giovanni Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only three hits, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, Javier Santana and Ryan Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Santana scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Ryan went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave Santana a new career-high. Jose Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Knight hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Christian struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Antelope Valley was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They came up short against Boron, falling 18-1. The Antelopes haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Antelope Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Edwards, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Edwards is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Omar Magana also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Knight's record is now 2-6. As for Antelope Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Knight came out on top in a nail-biter against Antelope Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Knight repeat their success, or does Antelope Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
