The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cornerstone Christian Academy has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Bishop Gorman will arrive with four straight wins.
Cornerstone Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 78-49 loss at the hands of Dallas Lutheran. Cornerstone Christian Academy has not had much luck with Dallas Lutheran recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Cornerstone Christian Academy got a solid performance out of Nason Dorman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. Dorman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Doss, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Coram Deo Academy, posting a 92-50 victory on the road. Bishop Gorman has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Ej Coppock was a one-man wrecking crew for Bishop Gorman as he went 12 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coppock has scored all season. Ryan Richbourg was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Cornerstone Christian Academy bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bishop Gorman, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cornerstone Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bishop Gorman struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 32.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
