Softball Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short

Polk County lost against Central City back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Slammers lost 11-2 to the Bison. The Slammers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mady Berggren made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Polk County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Central City, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Polk County will square off against Boone Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central City, they will take on St. Cecilia at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bluehawks have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
