Basketball Recap: McQueen Lancers vs. Spring Creek Spartans

The McQueen Lancers pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spring Creek. McQueen has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kade Snyder and Kanigh Snyder certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Snyder scored 35 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Snyder dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Snyder has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Talan Backlund, who scored six points along with two steals.

Darren Bylund was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points for Spring Creek. Bylund has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron Johnson, who scored 11 points along with three blocks.

McQueen dropped their record down to 9-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Spring Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

McQueen will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Damonte Ranch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lancers in Nevada (the Mustangs are ranked seventh, while the Lancers are ranked 54th). As for Spring Creek, they will be playing at home against the Dust Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
