Softball Recap: Southlake Christian Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

SouthLake Christian Academy hadn't done well against Hickory Grove Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles came out on top against the Hickory Grove Christian Lions by a score of 12-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Ashton Maultsby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Maultsby was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Maelyia Blair was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Madeline Pressley, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

SouthLake Christian Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Concord Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something SouthLake Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they will welcome Piedmont Community Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Piedmont Community Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
