Baseball Recap: Neumann-Goretti Takes a Loss

Neumann-Goretti lost against Holy Ghost Prep back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Saints took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Firebirds. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Neumann-Goretti got a good showing from Nick Morici, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Morici has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Neumann-Goretti saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Meitzler, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Nicholas Cerone was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Neumann-Goretti's record now sits at 8-8-1. As for Holy Ghost Prep, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neumann-Goretti will welcome Conwell-Egan Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Holy Ghost Prep, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against William Penn Charter at 4:00 p.m.
