Baseball Recap: Schaumburg Christian Takes a Loss

Schaumburg Christian and Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Schaumburg Christian had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 5-4. The Conquerors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

James Carey put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Schaumburg Christian is 2-1 when Carey posts two or more runs, but 3-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ethan Broyles made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Schaumburg Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
