Preview: Harding University Rams vs. Hopewell Titans
The Harding University Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Hopewell Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Wednesday, things could have been worse for Harding University, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-42 loss to West Charlotte. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Harding University in their matchups with West Charlotte: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Hopewell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 63-11 loss at the hands of Hough. While losing is never fun, Hopewell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while Hough is ranked 155th).
Harding University's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Hopewell, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Harding University came up short against Hopewell in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 44-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hopewell's June Wallace, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Now that Harding University knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
