Basketball Game Preview: Haughton Buccaneers vs. Benton Tigers

Haughton and Benton are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Haughton Buccaneers will square off against the Benton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Haughton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Parkway, who was ranked first at the time (Haughton was ranked 15th). Haughton was outmatched by Parkway and fell 69-42. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Benton got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 51-22 win over Byrd.

Haughton's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-3. As for Benton, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.

Haughton was able to grind out a solid win over Benton in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 57-48. Will Haughton repeat their success, or does Benton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
