Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Verot Vikings vs. Neumann Celtics

The Bishop Verot Vikings will challenge the Neumann Celtics at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Verot will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Bishop Verot didn't have too much trouble with Barron Collier as they won 46-32. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Cougars are ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Verot's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron O'Halloran, who went 7 for 16 en route to 17 points and three steals. O'Halloran's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Caroline Ward, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and six steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Neumann, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 52-17 win over Oasis. The Celtics have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 23 points or more this season.

Bishop Verot's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Neumann, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Bishop Verot beat Neumann 57-44 when the teams last played on Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Verot since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
