Baseball Game Preview: Hunter Wolverines vs. Murray Spartans

Hunter hasn't had much luck against Murray recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hunter is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 21st straight game dating back to last season last Friday. They came up short against Granger, falling 17-3.

Noah Francom and Thomas Woodruff did some serious damage despite the final result: Francom went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while Woodruff went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That run was Francom's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brendan Brito, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Murray's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 15-7 to Taylorsville. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered since May 20, 2024.

Conner Whitehead and Baylor Chappell stepped up to the plate in a big way. Whitehead went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Chappell went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Murray's loss dropped their record down to 12-3-1. As for Hunter, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.

Hunter might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from Murray when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
